Me in 1982
Recently, I poured through boxes of old photo albums and my high school yearbook, looking for photos for a project that I'm working on. I came across this picture of me in the yearbook, with my hair perfectly coifed in the comb-back push up style of the early 80's. In the black and white photo, I recall that I was wearing a green and burgundy vest with a fur color, a fashion statement of the day.
Let's just say I was looking pretty fly. So when a member of our high school yearbook staff stopped me on the way to my class and asked to take a photo of me, I thought it was because I was looking like a fashion mogul.
Later when the yearbook was published, I discovered that the reason I was being featured was because I was one of the graduating seniors who had earned a reputation of being a leader for the roles that I played in school, as well as the talent I displayed in various speaking competitions.
